Project Red Head Commenced!

Print Friendly and PDFPrint Friendly

Stage 1: Auburn Base

Preface. I've been wanting to have red hair since I was little, but never grew big enough balls to actually go through with it. That and the whole notion of bleaching my hair and doing the whole process wasn't worth it to me. HOWEVER, as late as I am to the party Garnier has come out with their Ultra Color line made specifically for dark/black hair. I think this first came out like several years ago *facepalms*.

I was a bit of a skeptic since my hair is sooo dark....like....the night..dark lol. But low and behold! IT WORKED!!! Well, kinda.

Results. My hair did not turn out as vibrantly, "fire engine" red like it is in the box, which i'm actually quite glad because I was aiming for a more red/violet mahogany color. I never knew this 'til now, but I guess my hair has more of a cooler undertone.... Woohoo!!

For Stage 2, I plan on layering another more true red color on top to add more dimension. Hopefully it'll turn out more vibrant, but not obnoxiously red. *fingers crossed*

Verdict.  I really LOVE this product by Garnier and HIGHLY recommend it to those who want to experiment with color on their dark hair. Results may vary depending on the individual's hair.

I'm loving leg warmers these days paired with calf boots or even sneakers sometimes. I paired them with a matching color eternity scarf.......and of course, a hot cup of coffee (I need to buy myself a large polka-dot mug!)

What do you think of this new feature, FashionFeast Fridays?

Speaking of feasts, I will be posting my mom's chicken soup recipe soon!

Stay warm, folks!!

I was recently interviewed by Smashion.com, a free fashion market where you can sell your old stuff (ebay) or even create a store for handmade clothing and accessories (Etsy). Only difference is, it's 100% free to sign-up. You get 100% of the profit, so no selling fees.  It's pretty awesome!!

check it out!

Get to know Smashionistas up close & personal!
andreamarie387, a Smashionista since 06-Jan-10, recently had an interview with us.  Andrea loves recycling her closet and hopes you find something you'll love in her store.

Check out some of her seller's tips in her interview!
Smashion: Tell us a little about yourself.
andreamarie387: My name is Andrea. I'm currently 23 years old and a lover of fashion and recycling. I'm a strong advocate in the saying "one person's trash is another person's treasure". Although I wouldn't call it "trash" just...old belongings! :)
Smashion: Tell us about your store. What kind of items are you selling?
andreamarie387: My store isn't really anything out of the ordinary. I have a variety of clothing, dresses, jeans, tops for every season and occasion. I'm in the process of posting more up too.

Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.
~Coco Chanel

I have this small affinity for fashion magazines.

Not pictured are the thousands more I store in my closet, under my bed, and in the bathroom hahaha.

Here is my outfit for today--very casual pheasant top with a woven waist belt. You can't see them here, but I wore torn skinny jeans that I folded up to kinda resemble boyfriend jeans and some moccasins to finish it off.  // =)

These are one of my favorite shoes to wear; they're super comfortable!

Top: Rainbow

Skinny Jeans: Urban Behavior

Belt: I don't remember haha It came w/ a pair of jeans I bought a long
time ago.

Moccasin shoes: Kohl's

 oh btw......

Happy April Fool's!
Hope nobody was "fooled" too badly today hahaha

Today it's been the most beautiful weather thus far, high 70's. I got my full dose of seratonin, so I'm feeling really good! Again, it never fails to amaze me how it can go from mid 40's, chilly to clear blue skies, sunny, summer, t-shirt weather. I'm excited now. Spring is here!!

This is what I had to wear seriously only 2 days ago. It was so cold.
I call this look, Bummy Chic haha

Shopping Adventure

Print Friendly and PDFPrint Friendly
Today Chicago was blessed with tons of rays of sunshine, clear blue skies with a cool windy breeze! Unfortunately all the fun to be had was spent indoors haha. What can possibly be better than enjoying Mother Nature at her best?..........SHOPPING! I haven't gone shopping in forever and today I got to spend some time with my beautiful sister. It's days like these where I thank my training haha We spent a good 3-4 hours straight, no breaks or rests, just walking and walking, shopping and shopping. I was helping her hunt for some nice outfits for her and her man's engagement photoshoot this wednesday. I have to say, it was definitely a lot of fun despite the fact that I only bought one thing! I'm so proud of myself! lol :)

My outfit for today was just casual with a blue batwing sweatertop from Rainbow and black skinny jeans from the Miley Cyrus collection ( I love her clothes!)

(excuse the mess in the back!)

I bought some cute black pumps from Charlotte Russe for only $22.80. They're having a buy 1 get 1 for $10, but sadly I didn't find a 2nd pair that I like, which is okay I guess!

Hair Food: Organix

In all the years I've lived leading up to this point, I spent quite a lot of time (& money) experimenting with hair. No, I've never gone too crazy and dyed it neon green or anything like that, but changes here and there and over time all the coloring, teasing, curling, heating, hair spraying chemical torture, has led to a lot of hair damage. I'm not a fan of constantly changing and switching up brands especially if a certain product(s) works for you very well. In the case of shampoo and conditioners, I viewed them all as being the same so I would usually just go for the cheapest kind. Unfortunately, what came with the cheapest kind also came the cheapest quality. It was only causing more damage to my hair and it got to the point where I couldn't even manage it anymore.  I did a little research and came across many websites and articles mentioning switching to paraben free, all organic hair products. Parabens are basically chemicals put into many beauty products and unfortunately also pharmaceutical products as well to help preserve it for a longer period of time. Here's what TotalBeauty.com had to say,
