Caramelized onions are so delicious. You can add it to dips, sauces, or just as a delicious side.

Caramelized Onions

Ingredients
  • Several medium-sized onions sliced length wise
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons butter or olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cooking Directions
  1. In a large frying pan over medium high heat, coat pan and heat up the olive oil. Stir in the onions until onions are fully coated with oil. Spread the onions evenly over the entire pan stirring for a good 5 minutes or until onions start to tender and turn translucent.
  2. Turn fire down just a tad to medium, so onions don't burn. Add a pinch of salt. Stir. Cover pan and continue cooking onions stirring occasionally (every few minutes or so) making sure to always keep them spread out evenly.
  3. Continue this process until onions turn a dark caramel brown color. If onions start to dry out while you're doing this, you can add a little bit water just to coat the bottom of the pan.
