In a bowl, whisk together all the dry ingredients.
In another bowl, using electric beater or manually with whisk, cream butter and sugar until well incorporated, combine eggs one at a time.
Add dry ingredients in 3 batches. After adding first batch, add milk. Add next 2 batches, whisking in between. DO NOT OVER BEAT or else cupcakes won't be as fluffy!
Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full, then bake for 18-20 minutes.
Basic Chocolate Cupcake Recipe
- 1 C butter melted
- 2 C flour
- 2 C sugar
- 3/4 C cocoa powder
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 C sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/4 C milk warmed
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
In one bowl whisk together dry ingredients. Cream half of sugar (1 C) with melted butter, add eggs one at a time. Combine other C of sugar with warm milk. Add to mixture and whisk until well incorporated.
Add dry ingredients in separate batches (to prevent making a mess). Whisk until you no longer see raw flour.
Fill cupcake liners 3/4 full and bake for 18-22 minutes (do toothpick test to make sure)
